Each Basic Setup gets my 5-step check:
Pre-setup inspection
Check and measure the neck relief, action, and identify any pre-existing issues before the setup.
2. Fretboard and frets
Thoroughly clean and condition the fretboard. Smooth and polish frets to a brilliant shine.
Fit fresh strings, set neck relief, set action, adjust saddles to match fretboard radius, inspect and file the nut (if necessary)
to ensure correct slot depth, then set string intonation.
3. Setup
Set pickup height, inspect wiring and test pots, clean output jack and ensure all hardware is in proper working order.
4. Fine Tuning
Ensure all issues are corrected and final all-over polish.
